Dilly’s is the brain child of Dilani Wijeysekara , who started as a windows dresser for her husband’s shop and soon realized that there was something lacking in the clothes she had to display. Either it had a bad fit and did not sit well or was over designed. She believed that the beauty of a garment is not the garment itself but when it enables the women herself to shine through it.

The store was a reply to her hearts cry to produce clothes that are subtle, romantic, elegant and above all, have a story running through all its stitches. Never pretending that she wanted to revolutionize women’s clothing or do any thing other than design clothes that she personally hankers after herself, she developed a passion about how a garment is put together.

She ensured equal attention to all parts of the process with the inclusion of fabulous fabrics, good tailoring and superb cut giving them all a couture quality. These timeless classics were soon identified and became firm favorites of many, after all “Good taste is like a red light” they say.

With a deep respect for women, she made sure that the clothes designed were real, hiding and enhancing certain parts of the body that women love and loath enabling only the best and confident to strike out.

Having a team of experienced dedicated staff the company was found in 1986, The team firmly believes in being “genuine” - the spirit that makes all the difference. Its trend is to employ individuals who think and live the Dilly’s culture, totally in sync with their suppliers and customers, making it a business more connected with the soul.

“What ever our team does, from fixing a button to ironing a seam, they put their whole heart and soul into each piece, making the end product an all time masterpiece” claims Dilani.

Not wanting to grow too big as she feels it might rob them of the creativity and sheer joy of producing such clothing- the Dilly’s team remains small. It not only helps them to have fun, but also enjoy doing what they do best. The same philosophy exists today, making that exquisite garment you own a “well kept secret” designed and seamed with passion and pleasure.
